Tremendous reason to read, support subscribe or become a member. At the very least a place to visit for reliable news. In an age of tremendous uncertainty, it is great to hear of a Bastion of objective journalism and commitment to TRUTH. The Guardian Newspaper has long been a favourite of my husbands, and I have to say it is tremendously rich in trustworthy news accounts and commentary.

Hello Dr Petrina,
Last night I gave a speech on the past, present and future of Guardian journalism. You can read the essay here.
After two and a half years as editor, with dramatic changes taking place in politics, society and technology as well as the way journalism is funded, I wanted to answer the question: why does the Guardian exist, and what can that tell us about the path we should take next?
The essay is primarily about Guardian journalism, and I hope it provides some useful context for our readers, everyone in the organisation, as well as anyone interested in the role of media organisations that work in the public interest.
In the essay, I lay out five principles:
1) we will develop ideas that help improve the world, not just critique it;
2) we will collaborate with readers, and others, to have greater impact;
3) we will diversify, to have richer reporting from a representative newsroom;
4) we will be meaningful in all of our work;
5) we will report fairly on people as well as power and find things out.
Over the next few months I’ll be seeking feedback from you, Guardian readers and supporters, as well as spending some time across Guardian News & Media, discussing the essay with our teams and hearing thoughts about how the ideas within it can be pursued. I look forward to hearing what you think.
